Why Partner with Hound Entertainment?

Who is Hound Comics™

Hound Comics, Inc. (Hound Entertainment) is a privately owned publishing and multi-media company encompassing all aspects of the entertainment industry.  Hound is dedicated to providing top notch entertainment including several projects ranging from comic books to film.  The flagship brand, “Brimstone and The Borderhounds” has grown in leaps and bounds since its inception in 2005 to its eventual launch on October 31st, 2010 in Borders Books across the United States.

Re-launched on January 11, 2011 in limited Barnes & Noble retail locations, Hound Comics™ made history as the only independently owned and operated comic book company distributed in the big box retailer alongside iconic companies such as Marvel and DC.  Brimstone and The Borderhounds quickly garnered popularity and was cherry-picked by Barnes & Noble to be distributed to their over 700 retail locations nationwide; as well as their affiliate network of B.Dalton retail outlets.

Shortly following this expansion, the series was accepted by Diamond Comic Distributors for distribution to thousands of independent retail locations across the globe.  In addition to the in-store sales, the Borderhounds title has also been made available for online purchase via BN.com (Barnes & Noble), Amazon, ComicFleaMarket.com and through HoundComics.com.  The title is also available as a digital edition on iTunes as well as Drivethrucomics.com, Wowio.com, MyDigitalComics.com and Amusedom.com.  Most recently Hound Comics acquired several new titles for publication, including The Protector, Gun Ghoul, Soul Heir, Techlore and Dragonseed.

Over the course of 2011, Hound has expanded its brand by launching several new Divisions aimed at specific markets.  The Hound Kids Division, launched on October 31st, 2011, features not only the children’s book series the Border-Pups (a version of the popular Borderhounds characters aimed at children ages 5 - 10); but also books by the legendary Wookiee, Peter ‘Chewbacca’ Mayhew (Star Wars) featuring the artwork of veteran 17 year Disney artist, Terry Naughton (Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, Lion King).  With many more exclusive titles set for 2012.

Hound Publishing premiered with its first release, “In Jamie’s Words”, a book aimed at countering the growing nationwide epidemic of bullying, written by teen activist, Jamie Isaacs.  Ms. Isaacs is the youngest person in history to have ever helped to propose, write and eventually pass a bill in New York State.  Partial proceeds from the book are donated to the Jamie Isaacs Foundation for Anti-Bullying.

Hound Entertainment licensed properties have spawned numerous products and projects including Brimstone and The Borderhounds: The Animated Series (currently in development).  The animated series is being produced by Floating Pear Productions and offers a pop culture sandwich of celebrity voice-overs including Peter Mayhew (Star Wars), AJ Pero (Twisted Sister), Claire Unabia (America’s Next Top Model), Brutus Beefcake and Kaval (WWE), Robb Demarest (Ghost Hunters International) with theme music by guitar master Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (Guns N’ Roses) and many more celebrity and surprise guests.  A Borderhounds branded video game, for iOS and Android devices, will be made available in early 2012 as well as Brimstone and The Borderhounds: The Video Game for release on the Xbox LIVE and the Playstation Network.

2011 saw further licensing agreements with Little Brass Bird (Plush Toys), Blue Rocket Labs (Interactive Mobile Apps) and most recently with Eastsport, Inc. (Backpacks & Lunch Boxes) and the Dirty Brand (Organic Seasoning), for use of the Borderhound characters in marketing their products to stores nationwide.

Hound has also expanded its community and global responsibility by partnering with the Ad Counsel and the Project Meridian Foundation.

Why Partner with Hound

The answer is simple… there is a tremendous opportunity for growth.  Branding is an essential piece of the marketing puzzle and utilizing established characters such as Brimstone and Luscious is instrumental in targeting key demographics.  Our characters are cool, edgy and fun while offering the advantage of building a broader revenue stream that could potentially rival the giants such as Marvel, DC and Disney.  Statistically, most people who purchase “comic” branded merchandise are not avid comic book fans.  This partnership would create the next trend providing consumers with new and unique products.  Simply put, a breath of fresh air in the oversaturated “comic” licensed market of today.
